Description

ROCK OIL KOOL-GUARD XL

A high-performance ethylene glycol-based engine coolant which employs Organic Acid Inhibitor Technology.

Product Code: 08660
Features

Free from nitrites, amines, phosphates, borates and silicates
When used at the recommended concentrations, it provides long-lasting corrosion protection for a minimum of 5 years, or 250,000KM (500,000KM in commercial vehicles)
It is suitable for use in all vehicles
Unlike traditional coolants, which employ inorganic inhibitors, KOOL-GUARD XL has excellent hard water stability and very low inhibitor depletion rates.
Compatible with most other ethylene glycol-based coolants, but for optimum performance and durability, we recommend that before using KOOL-GUARD XL in systems previously filled with traditional coolant the cooling system is drained and flushed with clean water before filling with KOOL-GUARD XL diluted following the vehicle manufacturers instructions. We recommend a 50% dilution with good-quality water.

ROCK OIL KOOL-GUARD XL FAQS

What’s ROCK OIL KOOL-GUARD XL used for?

Hey there! KOOL-GUARD XL is our top-notch water-soluble cutting fluid, perfect for all sorts of machining operations. Whether you’re doing general machining, grinding, or working with tough materials, this fluid will keep your tools cool and your cuts precise!

How do I mix KOOL-GUARD XL with water?

Great question! For general machining, you’ll want to aim for a mixture of about 5-10% concentrate with water. Just remember to always add the concentrate to water (not the other way round!) and use clean, good quality water. Think of it like making squash – but for your machines!

What makes KOOL-GUARD XL special?

This clever fluid is quite the all-rounder! It’s fantastic at cooling and lubricating, keeps your tools lasting longer, and helps prevent that pesky rust. Plus, it’s got excellent stability, so it stays mixed properly and doesn’t get smelly – even after long periods of use!

How often should I check the concentration?

Keep an eye on it daily with a refractometer – it’s as easy as checking your tea’s strength! Regular checks help maintain the perfect mix and ensure you’re getting the best performance. A quick daily check can save you loads of hassle down the line!

How do I know if my mixture needs topping up?

Your mixture will give you some hints – if it’s looking a bit thin, or your refractometer reading is low, it’s time for a top-up. Remember to check the concentration before adding anything. It’s like seasoning your food – you can always add more, but you can’t take it out!

What about health and safety?

We’ve got you covered! KOOL-GUARD XL is formulated to be operator-friendly. However, it’s still best to wear appropriate PPE like gloves and safety glasses. Keep the work area clean, and make sure there’s good ventilation – just common sense really!

How long will my mixture last?

With proper maintenance, you’re looking at several months of reliable service. But like a good cup of tea, it needs looking after! Regular concentration checks, removing tramp oil, and keeping the system clean will help it last much longer.

Can I use KOOL-GUARD XL on all metals?

This versatile fluid works brilliantly with most metals, including steel, cast iron, and aluminium. However, if you’re working with any exotic materials, give us a quick bell first – we’ll make sure you’re using the right concentration!

What’s the best way to store KOOL-GUARD XL?

Keep it somewhere cool and dry, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Make sure the containers are properly sealed when not in use. Think of it like storing food – you wouldn’t leave the lid off or keep it in the sun!

How do I know when it’s time to change the fluid?

Watch out for signs like unpleasant odours, excessive tramp oil, or poor surface finish on your work. If you notice any of these, or if the fluid’s been in use for an extended period, it might be time for a fresh mix. When in doubt, our technical team is always happy to help!
